To celebrate the unveiling of the '14 Honda Invisible (although I think it's pronounced Si-Vick), they've partnered with T10 to bring one other invisible car and one cool hatch to Forza 5. For free. As painful as that must be for MS and T10.

Painful? Honda is going to foot the bill for development costs. They're going to get more money from Honda than they're likely ever to get from a DLC Pack. Most DLC loses money. Especially on a new console with a much smaller install base.

Wat? This isn't the first time Forza did this, remember the Veloster?

That's a very long way to write "I agree, T10 does otherwise seem to be nickel-and-diming their customers."

This. It costs a ton to rent the scanner for the cars then they have to code all the stats for the car. Its not cheap to develop new content for a game. I think the cost for deloping a character for a fighting game was around 30k scanning and putting in new cars based on their real world counter parts probably costs double.

Yeah.

I'm just saying that in 5 particularly, T10 seems to have released a shallow product.

In order to shoehorn in FozaVista, a feature so far from essential to racing that it makes you wonder why it's there and not at least rudimentary pit options, they've cut down on cars. And when they get around to Vista-ing those old cars, they sell them back to you.

The number of DLC downloads compared to game owners is so small that they're simply covering costs with the cost of DLC. I learned a long time ago that iRacing's pricing isn't that bad when you realize just how much money a Forza game costs with all the DLC. I haven't purchased a copy of Forza since Forza 2. I got a free copy of Forza 3 for being a moderator. Didn't bother with Forza 4. I've also interviewed for a job with Turn 10 and unless they were lying to my face in an interview the DLC isn't a way to increase the game's revenue through the DLC itself. It is, however, a way to extend the lifespan of the game which does sell more copies of the game itself.

Why buy a game nobody is playing that came out a year ago? Oh? People are still playing it? Ok I'll get it then.

To each their own. I appreciate how much detail they put into each and every car. They could have easily put in 1000+ Cars... But what is the point if most of them are simply low res ports from old games? Turn10 charging for car packs works for everyone. They can keep updating their vehicle lineup, and if you don't buy the expansion cars, the newer high res versions developed will be available in the next title release. Unless they do another major gfx jump.

Forza isn't a racing game. It hasn't been since Forza 2. The sooner you realize they care as much about the culture of cars and photo mode and their livery editor as they do about the racing itself the sooner you'll be able to enjoy it for what it is or move on to something better.

Dan Greenwald of turn ten said that they don't want to put cars from the old games in because they weren't up to a standard t10 set. Its better then the grand torismo way of having 1000s of cars that all drive the same and sound the same isn't it?

Forza Horizon had a free Honda DLC pack, you got a new Si, Honda Fit B-Spec Rally/Race car, and my favorite, a 1986 Honda Civic. Possibly one of the funnest cars in the game that doesn't cost a lot.

It's one thing to release DLC to extend a game's online presence, but when that content doesn't introduce anything new to the game, then it breaches nickel-and-dime territory.

It's more MS's fault for wanting T10 to force a pretty game out right at the Xbone release. If T10 were allowed to take their time, 5 might have most of the cars in previous games included and the DLC would once again (and rightfully) be reserved for new cars.

But there has never been any car in a Forza game that has looked as bad as most of the standard models in GT. You'd still definitely be able to pick them out from the newer cars, but the leap wouldn't be so hard to make.

There's no reason to Vista the cars; it's indefensible.

They already had the bulk of the code done for vista, enabling it for all cars with very minor audio content was pretty easy to push through. That said, a stronger influence on why they did it was to look at the statistics of how many cars people actually bought, then they structured their time accordingly giving them more time to detail fewer cars.

Also, I am pretty sure GT6 has a few models from the PS2... If they did launch the game on the ps4, they would have been ripped on hardcore.

i quite like forzavista. it's my only way to sit in a car just like what i used to drive and rev it like i used to. the interior is almost exactly the same. it's cool to be able to do that with any car in the game.

Come now. That's not too tolerant of different people's interests.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say it's in tolerant.

I'm sorry I had to use such language. I still love you.

lol. You must be new to Gawker...

(Yeah, I took another look...That wasn't a very nice thing for me to say. That said, second only to the Del Sol, the CRX is, in my opinion, the worst car to come out of Honda)
